The 1998 Meursault Village is surprisingly backward and reticent on the nose, eventually revealing scents of cockleshell, popcorn and almond with time, perhaps slightly more tertiary than the ’99 tasted alongside. The palate is nicely balanced with citrus lemon, orange zest and a touch of walnut.
But is single vineyard village wines a good idea, or just another ... On the palate the wines has very fine textures and freshness that comes from both the soil and the fine acidity structure. The wines are  never overripe, but retain their suppleness champagne chavost and finesse. There is a pronounced Coche style, but this does not prevent the individual vineyards terroir to shine through. They are terroir wines but have a quite distinctive style that characterizes all the wines from the domaine.

Its texture is a study in silkiness that can both enrapture now and promise even deeper complexity with patient cellaring. Sadly the nose of acrid silage meant that drinking the wine was a very unpleasant experience. This almost seemed both oxidised and heavily reduced if that is possible. The palate was reminiscent of apple cider but the acidity was ok.
Tasted early April 2019 the day before bottling, not surprisingly this showed a tiny bit of struck-match SO2 complexity. Despite the hint of reduction this showed lovely fine floral lift over what is clearly a very deep and rich wine showing obvious real old vine intensity. This is a real step up in intensity and character with the cooler site adding a little more acidity and lift to the wine. A fabulous village Meursault and an absolute steal compared to the $1,000+ cost of Chevaliers from his cousin. After relocating to NYC in 2013, they found that many of their  favorite vintages were not available in the US. Inspired by a lack of available inventory on the usual channels, they decided that it was essential to them personally and professionally to create a bespoke, world-class collection of fine wines available for US import.

Proving once again that you have to know the fruit source of any Bourgogne level wines. Javillier's are both from vineyards in Meursault. The Cuvée de Forgets from the Volnay side and the Cuvée Oligocène from the Puligny side. The 2022 Meursault has a perfumed bouquet that's more floral with extra red fruit tones and Pinot Noir DNA compared to the Auxey-Duresses. The palate is crisp on the entry with crunchy red fruit, fine mineralité and a vivid, graphite-tinged finish that lingers in the mouth. This is a classy red Meursault with fine length.
This boasts good depth and length, though somehow just a little conservative when compared directly with the ensuing vintage. A more deeply pitched and earthier nose is comprised by notes of both red and dark berries, newly turned earth and a hint of underbrush character. The attractively textured medium weight flavors possess very good density and only moderate rusticity on the even more complex and persistent finish. This is worth checking out plus it should repay 5 to 8 years of cellaring. NB. This wine-level price is the average price of all vintages in our database, with a higher weighting for the most recent vintage, and gradually decreasing impact on the average for older vintages. This may differ from the price shown above as it is the average price over three months, as opposed to the current price.

The 2010 vintage from Coche-Dury stands out as a particularly exceptional year, highly acclaimed for its remarkable balance and depth. This vintage showcases the winery's ability to produce Chardonnay that beautifully expresses the terroir of Burgundy. Wine enthusiasts often note the 2010's complex bouquet, featuring vibrant citrus notes alongside a subtle minerality, making it a standout choice for enjoying a truly exquisite white wine. Much much better than the 2014 drank a few days ago.
